Hoppy Easter

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend with family and friends.
We definitely had a blast with ours. It being Sophia's first Easter made it so special to us.

We go to celebrate the whole weekend. Saturday we had an Easter egg hunt with the neighbors
and Sophia also got to meet the Easter bunny!
Surprisingly, she loves strangers and doesn't cry if anyone wants to hold her.
So the Easter bunny didn't phase her one bit haha.

On Sunday morning after church, we went to a birthday/Easter lunch to one of my
mother-in-laws favorite restaurants.

We then drove to my grandmas and enjoyed an Easter egg hunt and
some dinner with my side of the family.

It overall, was the best Easter.
And with little Sophia around made it that much better.

yes, I do realize I'm the shortest in my husbands family. lol

Baby Food In 5 Steps Or Less

Sophia started solids about two months ago.
And she absolutely loves it!
Now, many people say to wait till the baby is about 6 months.
I decided to start when she seemed ready.

And at four months, she was beyond ready.
We wanted to start her on veggies first, only because I was told by her pediatrician that
if we started her on fruits, she would get accustom to the sweetness of them
and eventually not want to try any veggies…

I sure do hope she is right, because we started her on straight veggies.
But, to each is own. And if you want to start your baby on fruits first
go right ahead sista!... or brotha.

Lets get started on:
 How To Puree Baby Food

First I bought all organic veggies and fruits. Why you ask? Because all though she will
eventually eat non organic things like her momma and papa,
it was her first time trying food,
so I felt organic was the way to go.

Foods You Want To Purchase:
  • carrots
  • peas
  • sweet potatoes
  • squash
  • avocado
  • zucchini
  • pears
  • apples
  • bananas
What I did with each and every veggie and fruit is I washed them all really well.
Make sure your surfaces and hands are washed and cleaned also.

Carrots:
1: Peel and chop up finely.
2: Steam for about 15 minutes
3: Blend them with about 1/4 cup of water. More or less water till you get the perfect puree for your baby.
4. Freeze in an ice cube tray. Once frozen you want to grab a freezer bag and put the name and date on it. Add the frozen puree into the bag. Should last about 3-4 months in the freezer.

Peas:
1. Steam for about 10-15 minutes.
2: Blend with 1/4 cup of water. More or less water till you have the perfect puree for your baby.
3: Run it through a strainer and throw away the leftover skins. Baby can choke on them if they don't know how to swallow it correctly.
4. Freeze in an ice cube tray. Once frozen you want to grab a freezer bag and put the name and date on it. Add the frozen puree into the bag. Should last about 3-4 months in the freezer.

Sweet Potatoes: You can find a step by step in photo's here.
1: Preheat oven to 425. Bake until soft when pierced for about 45-50 minutes.
2: Peel skin off and blend with 1/4 cup of water. More or less water till you get the perfect puree for your baby.
3: Freeze in an ice cube tray. Once frozen you want to grab a freezer bag and put the name and date on it. Add the frozen puree into the bag. Should last about 3-4 months in the freezer.

Squash:
1: Cut squash in half lengthwise and remove seeds with a spoon.
2: Bake at 400 for 30-45 minutes until soft.
3. Peel and cut squash once cooled then steam for about 15 minutes.
4: Blend in 1/4 cup of water. More or less water till you have the perfect puree for your baby.
5: Freeze in an ice cube tray. Once frozen you want to grab a freezer bag and put the name and date on it. Add the frozen puree into the bag. Should last about 3-4 months in the freezer.

Avocado:
1: Peel and remove pit from avocado.
2: Chop and blend with 1/4 cup of water. More or less water till you have the perfect puree for your baby.
3: Freeze in an ice cube tray. Once frozen you want to grab a freezer bag and put the name and date on it. Add the frozen puree into the bag. Should last about 3-4 months in the freezer.

Zucchini:
1: Chop finely and steam for about 15 minutes.
2: Blend without water first. (Zucchini has a lot of water already). Add more water till you have the perfect puree for your baby.
3. Freeze in an ice cube tray. Once frozen you want to grab a freezer bag and put the name and date on it. Add the frozen puree into the bag. Should last about 3-4 months in the freezer.

Pears:
1: Peel and chop pear. Remove the middle seeds (pit).
2: Steam for about 5-10 minutes
3: Blend with 1/4 cup of water. More or less water till you have the perfect puree for your baby.
4. Freeze in an ice cube tray. Once frozen you want to grab a freezer bag and put the name and date on it. Add the frozen puree into the bag. Should last about 3-4 months in the freezer.

Apples:
1: Peel, core and chop.
2: Boil for about 10 minutes. Until soft.
3: Blend with 1/4 cup of water. More or less water till you have the perfect puree for your baby.
4: Freeze in an ice cube tray. Once frozen you want to grab a freezer bag and put the name and date on it. Add the frozen puree into the bag. Should last about 3-4 months in the freezer.

Bananas:
1: Peel, cut banana.
2: Blend and add desired amount of water. More or less water till you have the perfect puree for your baby.
3: Freeze in an ice cube tray. Once frozen you want to grab a freezer bag and put the name and date on it. Add the frozen puree into the bag. Should last about 3-4 months in the freezer.

Super Easy! If I can do it, anyone can…

I would wait 3-4 days in between each to introduce another. Just so you can find out if she/he has any allergic reactions to something. She loves her solids though!!

Easter//Baby Fun

So since I'm trying to capture all cute pictures of my little baby girl,
I decided to get a little fancy and take some Easter pictures of her.
Since it is her first Easter!

Even though they were taken on separate days due to
boredom, hunger and exhaustion (me ha ha),
we got some pretty cute shots!

Thanks to my wonderful husband for helping me with this little monkey! Love you! ;)

Such a cutie I just couldn't handle it. We tried so hard to get her to look my way and smile, but she was way more interested in the grass. ha ha
Hope everyone has a great Easter with their adorable littles and family.

Happy Easter Friends!

Five Months With Sophia

Sophia update

Weight: My baby girl got weighed for her 4 month check up a few weeks ago and weighs a solid 13lbs6oz! She is in the 59percentile for weight and 71percentile for her height! Can you say tall baby girl, I'm jealous.

Sleep: Her sleep is still off and on.. She will go through a few days of getting up once in the middle of the night, and other nights where she is up 3-4 times and I'm like WAAA!

Eating:  She has officially started solids at 18 weeks! She is eating rice cereal every morning with breast milk. And still nursing every 3-4 hours as well as supplementing with formula. (St

Diapers: Size 2 diapers. Haven't had to buy any yet! Woohoo!

Clothing: She is in 3-6 months right now. They're still a little big, but she will grow into them in no time.

Mood: Pretty happy most days. Her cute little smile just brightens my day, every day.

Loves: Loves her mornings. And loves to jump up and down on our legs with us holding her up with support. Cutest thing! She loves to watch cartoons. Sofia the First being my favorite. Hehe

Doesn't love: She doesn't love to be laid down for her naps.. And doesn't like being sick either. Poor mama had a fever and runny nose for a few days. Not fun.

What I want to remember: I want to remember how she turns to us when we call her name. And how she is trying so hard to sit up on her own.. She also found her cute little feet at 18w2days. Such a cutie pie!

-At 18 weeks 4 1/2 months she started rice cereal. Which i'm sure I posted already on her 4 month update. haha I am just so excited!
-At 18 weeks and 2 days (so right on haha), she found her feet and puts them in her mouth haha

Easy Bisquick Funnel Cakes

I can't be the only one who loves funnel cakes right? One day I was just in the mood and had to make myself some since the fair wasn't happening till 4 months later.

Got onto Pinterest and found myself a few difficult recipes, so I whipped up my own and it came out tasting identical to an actual funnel cake.

Makes 3 good sized pancakes

Ingredients:
-1cup Pancake Mix Complete (the just add water kind)
-1/2cup Milk
-1 Egg
-1inch Vegetable Oil

Directions:
Add an inch of thickness of vegetable oil to a sauce pan.
Get the oil to reach 350-360 degrees.
Mix the rest of the ingredients into a bowl and pour into a squirt bottle.
If you don't have a squirt bottle, you can use a zip lock bag and cut the edge
so that you can squeeze the batter into the oil.
You want squeeze batter in a circular motion close to the oil.
Fry for 20-30 seconds on each side until golden brown.
Transfer onto a paper towel with a slotted spoon to drain the excessive oil.
And thats it! Add whatever toppings you may like. I added powdered sugar, chopped up strawberries, and strawberry cheesecake flavored ice cream-yum!

How did this recipe come out for you? If you tried it, let me know! And repin it on Pinterest for more recipes like this! Or take a photo and tag me on Instagram with the hashtag #BiancaLivelyFunnelCake! xo
