Bianca Lively: March 2014

Traveling to Hawaii

Yay, a free trip that we got from just going to a time
share presentation! Which we didn't buy because we just wanted the free trip. They are great at what they do to try to get you to buy a timeshare by the way haha.

Ya for a FREE 3 day trip! Air fare and hotel included! :)

Went on our flight and Sophia slept 90% of the time. Feeding her occasionally and having to change her diaper (which was easy!)
Side Note: If you're taking a baby on a flight, make sure you nurse or feed your baby during take off and landing so that the baby is swallowing and doesn't hurt its ears from the pressure and height difference.

And finally, we made it to Hawaii!!
We basically did as much as we could in the 3 days we were there.
We were exhausted, and so was Sophia.

The weather was perfect, but we were still worried about the
sun burning our little mama.
And since she couldn't use any sunblock yet being only 3 1/2 months, we had her in light clothing. She loved it.

We walked a lot, took her to the aquarium, the zoo and she even got to experience the beach for the very first time! Now who can say their first experience at a beach was in Hawaii?

Touching the beach for the first time

Can't forget the luau we went to
with Sophia dressed as a hula dancer. ;)

Sophia was great the whole trip! Not once did she fuss.
She slept through breakfast, lunch and dinners for mom and daddy.

We didn't know if she would be interested in going to the zoo and aquarium, but I'm sure the pictures show you how much she loved it, and also how much she loves chewing on her hand now.. haha

For it being our first actual family vacation and having to fly with Sophia, it was the BEST three days of vacation ever. Can't wait for our next one! :)

maternity pictures

My maternity pictures are so precious to me. And even though my little princess is already 4 months old, it's never to late to share right?
We've been so blessed and lucky with having a best friend to take our pictures on special occasions like these.(Nick).
It was hard to just choose a few to post on here, so I decided to upload a few of my top favorites.

I sure do miss my belly.. And is it crazy to say I can't wait for baby #2 hahah

-Lots of love,

Leprechaun Day

Yay! It's St. Patricks day!!

You know what that means right? Green EVERYTHING! And if you don't wear green, expect a pinch from someone..

This morning I woke up wanting pancakes.. Rainbow pancakes! Just added food coloring to 6 separate bowls of pancake mix, and that's it! Topped with cool whip and lucky charms, Yum!!!  Husband loved them like that, and so did I. :)

Hope you got lucky today on this St. Patty's day.

Lots of love,

Sophia's First Flight

So we had a few "practice" trips that helped me with packing for our Hawaii trip. The trip was exactly 3 days. Anyway, packing was so easy this time around. We had gone on a few other weekend trips and I taught myself how to pack, what to pack, and how much of it for the three of us.

First trip we went on, I took 2 suit cases and a ton of extra bags thinking I was gonna need everything just to be safe for the baby. Second trip, I took two suitcases and her diaper bag and I still didn't need most of it.

So for this trip, we did ONE suitcase and one diaper bag. Umm, can you say amazing!? I'm a total girl when it comes to packing. I wanna take my whole closet sometimes (Okay most of the time). But I actually got enough reasonable clothes for me, husband and the baby.

So proud :)

Here is what I packed for my three month old for a 3 day trip:
-30 diapers (10 for each day)
-1 pack of wipes
-butt paste for diaper rash
-2 sleep n' plays
-3 day time summer outfits
-3 extra onesies
-2 extra pants
-1 pair of socks so her feet don't get sunburned
-4 bibs
-5 burp cloths
-a few bows
-1 hat
-sunglasses for the cuteness
-2 light blankets to give her some shade
-a few toys
-dish soap
-car seat
-face and hand wipes

All of this was very light and easy to put in the suitcase. My carry on bag, was our diaper bag. So I got to fit a few things in there off that list. It was easier than I thought! I made sure to take a trash bag in her diaper bag in case she threw up on her clothes and I needed to place the clothes in the bag. Or for anything else really, like one of those explosive diapers.

In her diaper bag (which was my carry on for the 5 1/2 hour flight) I had 5 diapers, wipes, a changing pad, 3 bottles with 3 oz of water in them (since thats all they allow), 3 pre measured formula tubes, 2 burp cloths, 2 bibs, 2 light blankets, pacifier,  an extra onesie, 2 shirts, 2 pants, and a few toys. Easy! And I still had room for more.

We were hoping our suitcase wasn't over 50 lbs. And thankfully when we weighed it at the airport, it weighed a little under 35 lbs. We were SO excited to know that all though most of Sophia's stuff was in her diaper bag, we were able to pack for the three of us in one suitcase :)

I hope this helped some of you! It definitely was the perfect amount of stuff. Only thing I forgot to pack was her new bathing suits. I was pretty bummed. But she couldn't be out in the sun or water anyway so it was okay.

Four Months With Sophia

Happy 4 Months Sophia!!

Sophia update

Weight: haven't got her weighed recently. We have an appointment in a few days! I'm anxious to see how much my baby girls grown

Sleep: her sleep has been getting better.. Or maybe it's just me feeling like I'm getting more rest, but she's only getting up once at night. We put her to bed at 9pm.. Occasionally we go to bed later because of a few shows that we like to watch Haha. She then sleeps from 9pm to 2am/3am "ish". Just depends.. And after that she gets up around 6am for the day. It's not bad at all.. And she is so happy in the mornings. We all are, it's great!

Eating: she is still nursing and supplementing with formula, and has been eating every 2 1/2-3 hours... Sometimes 4. She loves to nurse. It's so soothing to her and I. And an amazing bonding experience for the both of us. She just started holding my tops while I feed her. As if I'm gonna leave. It's just the cutest thing... She looks at me and smiles, even while I talk to her.. Gah, I get giddy just thinking about it, I'm telling you, it's an amazing bonding experience. I love it so much..

Diapers: we moved her into size 2 diapers.. Now, is it just me or are these diapers big looking.. They just aren't as cute looking anymore.. Haha. But she is definitely more comfortable in these.

Clothing: I officially washed her size 3-6 months clothes.. :"( sad sad momma bear. Her 0-3months just aren't as comfy for her and fit a bit tight. Especially the pack n' plays. They are very small for her long body. 3 months for her are perfect! And 3-6 months are a little big, but comfy. Makes me sad to think that she will eventually get into 6 months.. Then 6-9, then 9! Ah! My baby girl stop growing! :(

Mood: she is such a happy little mama.. Smiles all the time. I love her cute little smile. Brightens my day.. She only cries on occasion when she is hungry or tired. But I try to not let it get that far. I don't like hearing my mama girl cry.

Loves: she loves to look at herself in the mirror. Smiles at herself every single time. I remind her how beautiful and smart she is, and she just gives me this cute smile and tilts her head onto my shoulder as if she is embarrassed. My heart just melts.. She loves sitting in her bumbo seat on the table while we eat, or while I'm washing dishes.. She loves to sit up and bounce up and down in her little bouncy seat. She can barely touch the ground so she leans and bounces on one foot with her little toes. The cutest thing. We turn the tv on so she can watch cartoons and she loves that! All the colors and sounds amaze her. She loves to be carried, but what baby doesn't?

Doesn't love: she doesn't love laying flat on the ground anymore... Unless she is extremely tired. She doesn't like us to sit still with her, she likes us to walk around with her, (she got us there!). She doesn't really like tummy time. And that's about it! Basically she wants mommy and daddy to keep her entertained all day long. And I don't mind it. :)

What I want to remember: I want to remember how little she is, how she can barely touch the ground on her bouncy even on the lowest position. How she loves her mornings, and loves to smile at herself in the mirror. I want to remember how she loves when we make the farting sounds. We wanna always remember her cute little toothless smile. And how her cheeks rise up so high that her eyes slightly close, and her nose scrunches just a little. WE LOVE THAT.
-March 4th: At 15weeks old, Sophia learned how to hold her toys. Still a little bit hard for her to understand the use of her hands though… but at 16 weeks, she was full on grasping her toys! So daddy and I went to buy her some more! Still learning how to reach.
-Around that same time, sophia learned the use of her voice! She was playing with one of her favorite dolls, and we just kept hearing her chat away! Almost as if she was gonna let a cry out or she was complaining. So I got her on video. :)

Going for our weekly walks around the neighborhood.. It's so peaceful :)
And here you can see she was holding onto one of her favorite dolls.

This picture just melts my heart every time.. Daddy reading to his baby girl..

here is Sophia with two of her aunts Karina and Natalia

always love, Bianca

BBQ Ribs

I felt like something southern for dinner.
So I thought, why not BBQ ribs! Um, yum!
Here is how easy this recipe is. First off, the spice rub that makes this recipe!

- full rack ribs (baby back or saint louis spear ribs)12 bones total normally
BBQ Spice Rub:
•1/2 cup Light Brown Sugar
•1/4 cup Paprika
•1 Tablespoon Black Pepper
•1 Tablespoon Salt
•1 Tablespoon Chili Powder
•1 Tablespoon Onion Powder
•1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
•1 teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper

-BBQ glaze
•1 cup BBQ sauce
•1/2 cup honey

Directions for glaze:
Cook on stove top till well incorporated.

Directions for ribs:
•Combine all dry ingredients together in a bowl.

•Grab your ribs and pat dry them with a paper towel. Separate your ribs into portion sizes (I did about 3-4 bones)
•Massage a bit of the rub to each portion. Front and back till they're well coated.

•Place ribs in ziplock bag to marinate in the fridge for about 2-3 hours.
•Now if you don't have a smoker like me, your BBQ grill will do the job just as well. Turn on your BBQ grill and cook ribs indirectly in the grill with it completely shut for about 4 hours. Turn the ribs halfway through the cooking time.

•During the last 20 minutes baste the ribs with BBQ glaze.
For a more stickier rib, add more BBQ glaze the last 10 minutes as well.

Our cute little pups that wanted to hang outdoors with us. Coco the yorkie, and Roxee the shepherd.

Cant forget out most favorite person in the world! Watching some cartoons while mommy and daddy cook. Beauty.
