I just can't even believe my baby girl is here…
9 months of holding her closest to my heart and in my belly, she is officially here in my arms. I can't even begin to tell you how madly deeply overly IN LOVE I am with her..
Although it was bittersweet to go into labor because I truly enjoyed my pregnancy and could of been pregnant forever, I am happy with how it all turned out.

Here is our Birth Story.

Wed. November 13th 2:30pm:
I had my weekly doctor's appointment (38 weeks 2 days). Doctor did a cervical check on me and it wasn't a very pleasant one that time around for me. He had mentioned I was still "high, tight, and closed". Something I guess you really don't want to hear when you are 2 weeks away from your due date..  I had asked him worst case scenario she doesn't drop and he mentioned possibly having a c-section. I was devastated. I had my heart set on a vaginal birth.. So I went straight home and researched c-section births just in case.. Finally I came to the conclusion that sadness was going to get me know where. And my baby girl was gonna come into this world and be in my arms no matter what in the end.. The perfect perfect gift.

Fri. November 15th 8:30am:
I woke up to use the restroom around 8:30am. I felt a drizzle come down my leg, I thought maybe I didn't finish peeing? They say if you leak that you should smell it, so what did I do? I went down to smell it haha! And honestly, I had no idea what I was trying to smell, so I just cleaned it up. An hour goes by, and a best friend of mine came over to visit for the day. As we sat at the breakfast table drinking our morning tea, she asked me how my previous doctors appointment went and as I began to tell her that I was still "high, tight.." etc, I felt a small gush come out.. I quickly ran to the restroom and thought maybe I peed myself, and I figured it was normal being this late in my pregnancy... Then more gushed out onto the floor, and I just KNEW my water broke.. Since I had tested positive for Strep B, I had to go to the hospital to get started on my antibiotics. I called C at work to tell him the good news! And while I waited for him to get home, I showered and did my hair just to be prepared because I didn't know how long I was going to be in the hospital and I HATE washing my hair in places other than home.
So we headed to the hospital…
When we got to the hospital the nurse told me I was 1cm and 75% effaced. They realized my water did indeed break and they admitted me…

It was show time!

They started pitocin to induce my labor around 11:30am. Apparently I was having contractions and didn't feel them at all! I went to 4 cm with no pain, but it did take 16 hours… ah! Such a long labor. I quickly started to feel EXTREME pain during each contraction. I asked for the epidural and they saw that I had gone from 4-8cm in one hour! It was no wonder I thought I was going to die! Finally I was complete and ready to push.
I pushed for 4 1/2 hours!! She just wasn't coming down fully. So I had two options, either vacuum with a 4th degree tear/episiotomy or c-section. The doctor let me rest for an hour before trying to push again and finally I decided a c-section was the best option. I was exhausted and so ready to meet my baby girl. Awake with very minimal sleep for almost 26 hours.
I got into the OR thinking I was going to be able to sleep and rest till they got her out, well that wasn't the case. I felt a little bit of tugging, and then emptiness, I just knew she was out of me.. It was so sad but also exciting at the same time.. I knew she was born.. They got her out in less than 5 minutes!
I turned my head to see if she was on the table and my husband was there already with watery eyes watching his baby girl get wiped down..
Those first cries, were just the best cries I've ever heard in my life.. The nurse brought her to me and I immediately fell in love..  Her soft lips kissed my cheek and I kissed her back. They then sent my husband and the baby to the recovery room together while they stitched me up.
I got wheeled into the room with my new family. And we got to spend time together alone for a few before our family came in to meet her. We had a lot of family and friends waiting all day and night for her arrival. And finally she was here!
I'm still in shock that I am a mommy forever. I finally have my cute little family, and my heart is just swollen with love for them. Here are a few pictures of that day… I Love You Sophia.
